Write your Senator or Congressman re: Music Education

The National Association for Music Education sent representatives to Capitol Hill in June 2011 to "Ask" Congress to keep music in our public schools. They had four main requests.
  • That Congress maintain the arts as a core subject under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA)
  • That Congress specify that the Department of Education collect necessary data on education in music and the other arts
  • That Congress ensure that all federal funding under Title I and Title II applies to music education programs
  • That Congress include in ESEA accountability provisions that include a measurement of music success
Let your members of Congress know how you feel. Write them to share your interests in keeping Music Education alive. Be to the point, but let them know you are a registered voter in their area and share your own personal story. To find your Representatives, use the links:
